Mexico – La Casa De Los Arboles

Mexico City can be quite overwhelming – it is one of those places where it felt like progress and people are walking over each other. It is a beautiful city with too many things to do and see. I was down in Mexico with work for 2 months back in 2010. After the first month back in early 2010 (with another month to go) it started to feel a bit claustrophobic. Me and two colleagues decided to ditch the city for the weekend and booked ourselves into a place called La Casa De Los Arboles (“The Tree Houses”). About 1 hour outside of Mexico City, in the quaint little town of Zacualpan de Amilpas, in the state of Morelos.
It is a hotel, situated away from all the madness of Mexico City. The houses were literally growing with the forest (some trees more than 400 years old) they were built into. The area had its own micro-climate compared with Mexico City. Best of all it was a quite place, with multiple swimming pools (hidden around every corner), where you can switch off and relax.
Here are some of my photos from 2010 – all the photos were taken from my HTC phone camera (except the one by the main pool).
